Australian duo The Presets soar
to even greater heights after two sold
out nationwide tours in the US and a
slew of prestigious awards around the
world. For the third and final time on
their Apocalypso World Tour
they're setting their sights on America,
returning for more headline shows
throughout March and April, as well as
coveted appearances at Ultra Festival
at Miami WMC and Coachella
Festival 2009.
The self-produced Apocalypso
(approaching Triple Platinum in
Australia) has already spawned three
gritty hit singles My People,
This Boy's in Love and Talk Like
That and has crowned The Presets as
Australia's premiere electronic act both
in and out of the studio. The band not
only swept with floor at this year's
ARIAS (Australia's equivalent to the
Grammy Awards) with no less than six
Awards including 'Album of The Year'
and 'Best Dance Act', but also
capped it off with the 2008 Australian
youth radio network Triple J's Award for
'Album Of The Year', joining the likes
of Wolfmother among their hallowed
ranks.
Since their sold out Fall tour with
labelmates Cut Copy, they've now been
catapulted into the US pop spotlight,
gaining critical acclaim for their
stunning videos, innovative studio
techniques and especially their sizzling
live performances. Having already
recruited diehard fans from East, West
and even the deep, deep South, this is
your final chance to catch them in the
States for this year. The Presets will
be joined on the road by The Golden
Filter (causing a stir with their
synth cascade remixes for Peter Bjorn &
John, Hercules & Love Affair, Cut Copy).
To celebrate return of The Presets to
North America, Modular Records
will release the dramatic, compelling
If I Know You as a single. If the
first single from Apocalypso, My People
was a sledgehammer to the skull, then If
I Know You, the last, is its lance to
the heart accompaniment.
To recreate the emotionally resonant
atmosphere of the song on film, The
Presets have enlisted French director
Eva Husson (who directed the
acclaimed short for M83's Kim and Jessie
last year) to weave a poetic dream
sequence, juxtaposing youth fire and
dance to against the emotive electronic
throb of the track and the Los Angeles
backdrop.
Watch the video here:

If I Know
You has been given remix treatment from
a saddle of heavies. Tom Middleton
turns heartbreak into ecstasy, with a
bombastic house rework. UK new-Italo duo
Heartbreak turn in a throbbing old
school electro-disco jammer. Former Depeche
Mode/Yazoo/Erasure production don Vince
Clarke returned to the studio to whip up
a mystic voodoo breakbeat version. Via
Tania and Jori Hulkkonen teamed
up under the name Tania & Jori to
conjure up a completely enchanting, swirling
analogue bubblebath of a cover, with Tania’s
vocals replacing Julian Hamilton's, while
Israeli techno producer Chaim strips
the song back to even less than bare bones
for an impressively stark, minimal builder.

Out May 5th (Modular)
Additionally, for a lucky few, Apocalypso
will be revisited as a very limited
Deluxe Edition (released May 5),
featuring expanded story book format artwork
and a bonus disc with a slew of remixes
(many previously unavailable) by D.I.M,
Lifelike, Jence Moelle (Digitalism),
Jori Hulkkonen, Mouse on Mars and
Still Going.
