Hailing from Philadelphia
Leiana is currently in the studio
working on her 3rd full
length CD with producer/artists Rob
Caggiano (Anthrax) due out early 2009.
This female-fronted act already has a
rapidly growing fan base with two
self-produced and self-released studio
albums already under her belt and
countless tour dates in the states and
overseas. Leiana’s original style
ranges from all-out punk to
sarcastically fun to kick your ass
hardcore with just a hint of girl-group
charm
“Leiana is kind of a
rarity nowadays in rock: a band led by a
female with enough chops to lay waste to
anyone who dare oppose them. Together
with the legendary Chuck Treece and
enough musical weapons of mass
destruction, Leiana are a punky metallic
force to be reckoned with” – Pure Volume
Originally, singer Leiana
and multi-instrumentalist Chuck Treece
formed the foundation of Leiana. A
former pro skater and prolific musician,
Chuck has been a driving force in skate
rock for over 20 years. He’s also a
founding member of punk legends McRad.
The 2005 release of
Leiana’s debut EP didn’t go unnoticed,
especially its first single Surfy
Punky, which made its way onto
several punk compilations. In May of
2006 Leiana released her first
full-length CD Page. The
well-received album featured the singles
Follow Blind, which was included
in the Gnarly Dude compilation. Soon
after Leiana started her own label, Page
Records and hit the studio to record her
next release, No Going Back
which deliver two break out tracks
Bitter and Suffer that were
featured on the Brenden Borek
Compilation and A & E’ s Parking Wars.
“Leiana pulls in the
lyrics and vocal performance. The
mixture is ambient and atmospheric in
nature, the arrangements are interesting
and intriguing with their play on
emotions and texture” - Razorcake
The music industry may be
more dominated than ever by soulless
mega-corporations, but the DIY spirit of
artists like Leiana is still alive and
definitely still kicking.
